An Eye for Detail: An Inside look into TopSide Lounge’s Design

A very important social hub, Berwick Parksville’s TopSide Lounge is one of the favourite spots to be, of which there are many. TopSide’s ’s
naming came about as the interior design and décor evolved. Berwick’s Interior Designer, Tracy Higgins, came up with a wonderful concept and sketches of a classic boat wall hanging were brought to life by Dave Helland, a craftsman joiner we often work with who, as luck would have it, also happens to be a boat builder.

Here are some unique design features we incorporated into the ambiance at TopSide:
˶ Patrick Bulmer’s (Waterglass Studios) custom light fixtures harken back to a Mid-Century nautical era of teak and chrome — A Tour de Force!
˶ Extensive use of sapele mahogany paneling on walls and the bar brings to mind classic boats and yacht clubs!
˶ Top Side logo mimics the style and font of our favourite boat builder Chris Craft
˶ Large format boat images and details captured by Photograher, Eiko Jones, last summer on anearly evening jaunt on our founders (Gordon & Chris Denford), family runabout.
˶ Outside patio area more than doubles the size of Top Side – with a variety of sheltered or sundrenched lounging options. A large retro-style ‘Visit Sunny Parksville’ billboard featuring a Chris-Craft provide another nod to a bygone era…
