Gordon honoured at Berwick House 30th Anniversary Celebration

Our founder, Gordon Denford, was presented with the BC Seniors Living Association (BCSLA) Pioneer Award from BCSLA CEO Lee Coonfer at a special ceremony coinciding with the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Berwick House. Although Gordon received the award in September at the BCSLA Conference in Whistler, BC, we wanted to share this celebration with those who helped get Berwick off the ground and of course, our Residents.

In addition, four of our employees, Doug Webb, Bill Krutz, Margot Wallace and Katrina Glass, received special awards to celebrate their 30 years of service to Berwick Retirement Communities, having been with the company since the doors first opened at Berwick House. Thank you to them for their 30-years on unwavering, extraordinary loyalty and service.

It was a wonderful afternoon of reminiscing over how far Berwick has come in the last 30-years and how it all started. Residents, their families, staff and community partners all gathered together in celebration of such a significant milestone.

Berwick House also unveiled their brand new Tweed’s Cafe, which has been a very popular spot for the Residents since it officially opened.

Berwick a Community Sponsor for DVBA Lights of Wonder Event

From Dec. 20 through Jan 4th, 2020, imagine a space full of light where all ages are welcome in the heart of downtown Victoria. Families can come enjoy the magic of the season; a multi-generational activity for everyone to partake in. Downtown Victoria is going to be transformed into an interactive bright winter wonderland; where all the holiday magic will come to life.

This is the first ever Lights of Wonder  event at Centennial Square hosted by the Downtown Victoria Business Association. With the support of a number of local organizations, including Berwick, the event will be multi-purpose, serving as a fun, holiday activity for all generations and an opportunity to support these four social organizations, supporting the work they do in our community: Our Place, The Soup Kitchen, CFAX Santa’s Anonymous & BC Children’s Hospital.

Imagine a 40-foot tree, interactive lights tunnels, horse-drawn trolley rides, hot chocolate and more. It’s definitely something you shouldn’t miss.

Keep an eye out for our Berwick Staff who will be sharing the holiday cheer with our local seniors.
